Since when is iron not a metal. Have you never seen oxidized iron?

Other species use a different oxygen carrier so their blood is a different color. Copper, if I recall, is second in line. So blood blue exists, and I think at least one has green.

Blood that has copper is blue because when the blood is oxygenated, the copper changes from Copper (I) to Copper (II), which is blue. Human blood is red because red blood cells are red. They're red because they contain hemoglobin. That's red because it contains iron.

Someone said earlier that deoxygenated blood is darker than oxygenated blood. It's the other way around. In fact, any doctor or nurse who regularly draws blood from both veins and arteries can tell which is which by a glance. Unless the patient is VERY poorly; then the arterial blood can look as dark as that from a vein. It's not a good sign.

It's good that you fleshed it out a bit. I guess the point I was trying to make is that while hemocyanin blood turns blue because the copper changes from copper (I) to copper (II), hemoglobin blood is not red for the same reason, even though it has to do with the metal ligand. The reason I said it's more complicated is because it says on wikipedia (with citation) "The color is actually due to theporphyrinmoietyof hemoglobin to which the iron is bound, not the iron itself." I know what porphyrin is, I'm not familiar with moiety so I didn't quite understand what this meant exactly.

I've eaten at that exact stand in Paris, it's in or near the Latin Quarter. That area has tons of delicious food. They call them gyros but all the places around there (especially in le Marais where there are like four of those stands on every block) are run by Israelis.

I'm not talking about Europe, you hairy monobrow. I'm talking about gyro shops in America. If you ask for a plain gyro, you get a pita break with lamb, veggies and that white sauce. If you want a different style, you can have a specific gyro made for you from various meats, wraps and sauces.

Any shore in a region that has a record high temperature of 50F should not be allowed to be called a beach.
