Why is it that you get better service the ruder your are to employees?

>be welcoming, patient, and communicate clearly
>get standard service

>avoid eye contact, talk to employees with an attitude, and complain
>get free upgrades, discounts, free food, and coupons

It's not like they can spit on your food because all the cameras and whatever goes in the kitchen is viable to customers

A-anon, do you actually believe this?

It's not worth the risk. It takes time to sabotage food. Employees just want to get the food done and get through the way with no complaints. If a customer gets food poisoning, that is big trouble for the restaurant.

While I agree with your point entirely, I should inform you that it is my experience after about 7 years of working in restaurants that you don't need a sparkling resume to get another job in the food service industry. Turnover is so high managers are often looking to simply fill shifts. Or bad past jobs can be omit from a resume and you just tell the employer you were going to classes during that gap of employment.

Because the modern world values speed and efficient service, and if your ass can’t offer that, then no business for you!
So if your business or your employees suck, the only way from keeping people from never coming back is to comp everything. Believe it or not people WILL return if you do that. Sometimes regulars will lie about their food being shit too, just so they can get meal comps. Restaurants are massive cucks.

80% of the time, fast food lets me down. Here are some notoriously memorable instances.

First Offense: Had serious drunchies at 4am, went through the drive-thru. Attendant said: "Sorry, we're closed." Uh, no you didn't! Fool, you're standing right there, telling me that you're not open for business? I understand that it's very early morning, but this store is supposed to have a 24-hour drive-thru! This is blasphemous!

Second Offense: We walked over from the bars at 1:45am. They have signs all over their entrances stating: "Sorry, we're closed. We are cleaning our equipment." WOAH, WOAH, WOAH. What is up with cleaning equipment at prime-time bar hours?

Third Offense: We came back from the bars (do you sense a pattern?) I ordered a chicken sandwich and small curly fries. Cashier short changes me by $2. Okay, I might be one of those speshul Asians who can't do math, but I know when my change doesn't add up! When I told her about the short-changing, she insisted, in the rudest tone, that "Ugh, here is your change." Uh, what? You don't apologize for an error of which you were clearly cognizant? Taking advantage of drunk college kids is a no-no!

Albeit, I don't frequent fast food often, but as the only 24-hour drive-thru open for a good ten mile-radius in a college-town, I've had to come here more than I'd like.

My local KFC is a bit shit.
Constantly runs out of stock, always have to wait longer for food to be cooked.
There are two ways to deal with this

The way my mother deals with it
>Goes in on a friday night at about 8pm
>Orders a family burger box (pic related)
>Pays for order
>About a minute later employee comes back
>"There's going to be a 4 minute wait on the popcorn chicken..."
>Mother "Ohhh...hmmmpt!"
>"If you want I can give you extra nuggets and a large chips instead of the popcorn chicken..."
>"No, I payed for the popcorn, so I guess I'll just wait...hmmmpt!"
>Stands there and glares at employees
>Says under her breath, but loud enough for people around her, including employees to hear
>"This place is shit and the workers are crap"
>Box comes out a couple of minutes later
>"Sorry about the wait"
>Mother takes box and walks away with out saying thank you
>They gave her what she ordered, except the popcorn chicken, which looked slightly less full then it should have

>> No.9891247

>>9891246
Then there's the way I deal with it
>Go in on a friday night around 8pm
>Order a large bucket of popcorn chicken, 3 wicked wings and a large chips
>Pay for order
>While waiting here voices from the back
>"Well did you tell the customer there would be a wait?"
>"...no"
>"Well go and tell him!"
>Employee comes out and sheepishly says
>"There's going to be a 5 minute wait on the popcorn chicken, is that ok?"
>Before he's even asked if it's ok, I've already waved my hand in a dismissive motion and said "That's fine mate"
>A minute or so later the manager comes out
>"Sorry about the wait, the new trainee didn't realize that he had to tell customers when there's a wait"
>"Narr it's ok mate, these things happen, it's not the end of the world"
>"I'm real sorry, how about I throw in an extra lrg chips"
>"You don't have to do that"
>"No, I'll throw it in"
>Manager goes away
>About a minute later comes back
>"What about a drink instead of the extra chips?
>I say ok and say what drink I want
>Manager goes to grab a 600ml drink, hesitates, then grabs a 1.25lt bottle
>A few minutes later he bags up my food
>"Once again I'm real sorry about all of this"
>"It's ok man, you have a good night"
>Get home and find that he's thrown in the extra chips as well as a coupon for a free regular chips and drink

>> No.9891259

You're not wrong OP. Squeakiest wheel gets the most grease. I routinely observe people getting their food ahead of several other orders or getting extra service/stuff because they're some combination of rude, confrontational, and rushed. It makes sense from the perspective of the employee though; keep loud assholes quiet so they don't disrupt other customers, and so they don't end up causing issues for you with your manager.

I've worked a job in retail for a few years now, occupying various positions from salesperson to tech support.

Retail has changed my entire outlook on the average human being twice now. The first was just weeks into starting. I'd notice that even the most seemingly kind customer could turn venomous should they feel they were being wronged in some way. Levels of entitlement and delusion would vary by person, but hostility and aggression seemed to be near universal in every 'less-than-ideal' customer interaction, save for customers with retail experience themselves.

I would make every effort in kindness, sympathy, and courtesy, but it would virtually make no difference from customers I would handle more abrasively. If anything, kindness would have the opposite effect. It would imply weakness on my part, and they would double-down on their nastiness like they stomping their foot down on prey.

I could not understand it personally. I myself have been slighted by large, retail companies in the past. Never once has the outlet for my frustration ever been the poor sap passing me the bad news, as if he were responsible for the incompetence or unfair policies enforced by the store. So it would amaze me when their reactions would be so targeted and personal.

At the time I rationalized it as just a realization that most people are actually shitty. I later came to realize that the reality of it was more nuanced and terrifying.

The average channer, regardless of computational or linguistic intelligence, still has a greater perception of inflicted harm outside of their immediate self than the normal person. Perhaps a side effect of the experience of a lifetime at the bottom of the social totem pole, acutely aware of how low others can make you feel.

>> No.9900848

>>9900846

Continued.

Your average normalfag lacks this external awareness, some more than others, but most on some unwitting level. They literally cannot perceive how their actions affect others, so lashing out at some minimum wage chump inspires no guilty feelings. To a normalfag (especially women and beta men), kindness is a means of accruing social wealth, the normie lifeforce. Their kindness does not come as a natural extension of the self, but as a defense mechanism in the presence of a more dominant being. A wolf showing its teeth. The expected conduct of retail customer service essentially molds you into the weaker being, and each retail exchange a modern interpretation of a primitive struggle for dominance. The customer cares not who is at fault for their inconvenience, you are merely the most immediate outlet for their rage.

When I started to understand this fact, the paradoxes of normie behavior became so much clearer to me. If you explained your average retail meltdown hypothetically to a normalfag, they might side with the employee and declare the customer's behavior out of line in an effort to appeal to this universal human 'kindness' socially strived for. That same person could be placed in an identical situation, and behave just as irrationally as the described customer and feel entirely justified.

The biggest asshole working in my store also happens to be the most carefree. He frequently bullies and condescends his customers, occasionally butting heads with a strong-willed male, but receives the least grief of anyone in the store.

The normie is a bizarre creature, one who is much more primitive than we have been conditioned to believe. They all wish to rule and be ruled in some dominion of their own. Every action they take, every interest and trend they follow, every perception of their self and the world around them is an extension of this primal instinct to have their place in something bigger.

>> No.9900856

Continued.

The anonymity of the internet peels away the social order and any facade of kindness along with it. Humanity shows its true face, and it is both ugly and unthinking beyond the self. True kindness is a rarity belonging only to the few.
