>The sudden removal of the substance literally causes your body to stop working correctly and can put you in a world of hurt. The symptoms of alcohol withdrawal can be severe; sudden withdrawal can cause brain damage, seizures, heart palpitations, and other effects that can result in hospitalization or death.

>> No.9889113

Yes and its not a nice way to go. That said you generally have to be in deeper than you probably think for that level of withdrawal. The symptoms still suck really bad at the "lower levels", but even nightly blackout drinking wasnt enough for me to get there.

>>9889087
yes, but you have to be pretty serious in how much you consume and how frequently. the last detox i had was coming down from 1.75L/24hours, full blown panic ~8 hours after last drink, inability to sleep at all, tremors, hallucinating voices and faces, then if you don't get a drink or medical attention: convulsions.
i mean, fall down, completely unconscious, head-injury, pissing my pants seizing out.
it took 5 days in ICU to stabilize me with IV benzos, trip to the psych ward too. shit is no joke, it's agonizing and if you drink daily or large amounts you run a pretty serious risk of injury or death

think back on it... really think. I have been there too. It is not agonizing. It is uncomfortable and you feel guilty. It is a shock to the system, and shock can kill you, but it does not fucking hurt.

This. If you're really at risk of dying from alcohol withdrawals you'll already be aware that you're a full blown al/ck/, and will have suffered all sorts of "minor" withdrawals already.

Different anon, but anytime I really go over half a handle a day (also working, so not drinking for ~8 hours most days) I definitely have AP the next day. I don't know, maybe it's cause I'm not the biggest guy (5'8", 175).

A full handle in a day would probably put me in the hospital, and I have a hell of a tolerance.

You've never been like this because you were an evening drinker. 5 days of drinking vodka all day can give anyone severe withdrawal, even if they never drank before. But if you've been evening drinking for 5 years before that, that's definitely going to add to the severity, even if it was the day drinking which broke the camel's back.

Not that guy. I’d recommend you just drink if withdrawals become unbearable. Don’t set yourself times/limits, just try your hardest to save it, but use it if you have to. This is how I taper. I’m actually on day 1 sober today, after tapering for much of December, and taking a few benzos and shitloads of weed to keep me relatively calm.
