What is it with people that love cooking being alcoholics and having terrible lives?
Nearly every poster here seems to follow this pattern.

Because it's a low wage job with high pressure and competition: where some people work with retarded servers, customers who think they know better or complain to show off (or just don't read the menu, and often have to clean all the nasty ass dishes at the end of the night. Not to mention all the health code regulations and the fact that restaurants rarely make enough to survive because customers don't understand overhead and throw a conniption fit if prices go up.

So fucking crazy stress and people thinking the kitchen is a magical cupboard that all food can come from, exactly the way each person wants it, and at the cost of the raw ingredients.

My cooking gets to perfection level when I stop drinking.
>be sober for over a year, make amazing food, get promotion
>go back to crawling in a bottle for 3 years, cooking goes from perfection to just above average/good, make stupid decisions while trying to advance career and wind up in a worse kitchen
>get sober again 4 months ago, already in better job, cooking is back to perfection, creativity through the roof.

Drinking may temporarily alleviate the pains of work, but your career suffers. Never again for me, especially since I already have (minimal) organ damage. I'm not willing to die earlier than necessary for alcohol. There's enough other stuff than could kill me out there, don't need to help it along.

Because both food and alcohol are shit tier entry level pastimes.
If you're spending lots of time thinking about or engaging in either then your life's been so bad that you haven't even had the chance to branch out and get into subtler pursuits. You're basically stuck at the base of Maslow's pyramid, never having moved past self-feeding, to the point where even your drug of choice is just fermented liquid food.

Wait, what awful side effects do you think cannabis has?
That's a pretty fucking benign psychoactive. Worst thing about it I can think of is how if you smoke it then you *might* eventually have later life problems related to the act of smoking in general, though even then I don't think there's very solid evidence cannabis smoking will do the same thing as tobacco smoking as far as your cancer or COPD risks go. And it's kind of a moot point anyway since you can just heat it instead of burning it and bypass that possible issue altogether.
>>9873835
I didn't imply that. It is in fact just an ideological framework, not some scientific fact.

Haha, it is me, truly.
Food washes away the terrible taste of the massive amounts of cheap wine I drink. I have to drink this bc I can't really afford to go with anything else.

Last night after cooking, I apparently agreed to something with my wife. Fuck me now I have to take her shopping 2 days before Xmas. Oh well at least I can pick up a carton of cheap wine. 10% off if u buy 6 so I pay $22.60. Lasts a day and a half to two days.
