Hey /ck/ I am asking if any of you know any good BBQ sauce recipes? Christmas is coming pretty soon and to save money since i'm on a bit of a budget this year. I am planning o making a few of my friends BBQ sauce and bottling it too for them. And I can't think of a good recipe or find a great one so i thought you guys may know one that is maybe a family recipe or one you made yourself. I don;t think they will be very picky on what type it is really. I would like to make a very nice BBQ sauce for them. Any advice/suggestions helps!

You'd probably like a Kansas City style bbq sauce with liquid smoke.

This is my grandpa's recipe he used in his restaurant.

>tomato paste
>ketchup
>apple cider vinegar
>simple syrup
>equal parts chili powder, salt, black pepper

I can't give you amounts since his recipe is for gallons of the stuff, but the tomato paste and vinegar should outweigh the ketchup by a large margin. You can add brown sugar to this too, it's best as a savory sauce though.

Sure, here's one of mine. This one is best for fatty meats, like pork, duck, goose. It's not bad on chicken either, though I'd use something different with beef.

1 cup ketchup
1 cup apple juice or pureed cooking applies, such as Granny Smith
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup dark brown sugar
1 tb onion powder
2 tb tomato paste
1/4 cup molasses
2 tsp fresh ground black pepper
chili powder or cayenne pepper to taste (if you want it spicy)

Just combine everything in a saucepan and simmer it a bit until it thickens to your liking.

Never use ketchup in a bbq sauce. Puree your own tomatoes and add granular or brown sugar as needed during the reduction process.
