Tomat is only good when it's the smallest portion of any recipe

tomato sauce is okay, but eating whole grape/cherry tomatoes on any dish is just disgusting. I don't know how people like it, the squirt of juice into your mouth combined with the sour, bitter, watery taste is just nasty.

You need to find better tomatoes

but I grew them myself in my backyard, they still tasted bitter

I don't understand the tomato hating meme. When I was a kid one of my favorite snacks was thick slices of tomato with salt, and then as I got older I'd add olive oil and fresh basil. Not even gonna push the heirloom meme, most tomatoes are fine unless they're overripe or something.

Is this a genetic thing like how cilantro tastes soapy to some people? Cultural?

Are you overly sensitive to bitterness?
And just because a tomato is grown by oneself does not mean they taste good.
They are living things. Environment (the soil they grow in), and the food (water and sun) makes a difference. And of course lineage (genes).

Uh, try eating them when they're red instead of green, tardass.
