What kind of ham is the best to buy and how do I cook it? There's so many varieties. Some come in fancy blue or red aluminum foil, some are wrapped in a net, and others are just vacuum-packed. The last time I had a ham it seemed to be pretty simple, and I liked it. It had a crunchy brown sugar coating and that's about it. I'd be happy with something like that.

Dry cured hams are the only hams that matter

Yeah, well, the millions (billions) of dollars spent every Thanksgiving and Christmas disagree.

How people waste their money is of no concern to me. If it's not dry cured, it's not good.

This is now a dry cured ham thread.

Serrano ham, not as good as Iberico, but still tasty

You have to go to speciality shops, I think you need to be licensed to get it or something.

Slice, fry, consume.
You can buy the pre-sliced stuff too I guess. If you don't want an entire ham.

I'd like to meet the guy who doesn't want an entre ham and lay an ass whooping on him.
