I'm sitting at a restaurant with my friend, who just told the waiter that he's done, despite a third of his food being left.

So I'm wondering...

Couldn't restaurants store their leftover food, and sell it for a third of the price? Locals would go and ask if they have any leftovers to buy, put in a bag, and leave.

There could be a centralized "leftover app" that broadcasts all local restaurants that have available leftovers.

This seems like such a no-brainer idea.

No because it's against health codes and a great vector for disease.

If I'm at work, and a co-worker offers me half of his meal....I'll take it.

That's because you know who's eating it.

You don't bring the leftovers home? Ask for a box, what the fuck is wrong with you?

That's disgusting and no health regulations would ever allow it.
