Is cold brew disgusting or am I just weird? All I've ever heard is that cold brew makes bad coffee good and it takes away the acidity. But every time I've had it, it tasted like watered down drek.

I prefer cold brew because it doesn't leave a film in my mouth like hot brew does.

Cold brew is actually fairly strong. If you've had it taste watered down that's because it actually was watered down. You could try making a batch yourself.

Hipsters can be really retarded sometimes.

I've had it from tons of local coffee shops, chains, brewed myself using various methods, canned from the store, etc.

I would rather have a iced pour over instead every time

I guess it's good for people who like the lower acidity

What you've probably had is hot brewed coffee served over ice. It's what I've noticed a lot of cheap places doing since cold brew has grown in popularity recently - hot brewed over ice can be decent, but rarely without flavorings does it not taste watered down.

Properly made cold brew, like >>9472213 said, is actually pretty strong. It's got a stout flavor, and is low on acidity. I like it black, but it pairs well with creams, and caramel, if that's what you like.

If you've never made it before, try an affordable brand like Cafe Bustelo - it's inexpensive, and doesn't taste like absolute trash for being cheap. I use about 2 liters of water for a 10oz. package or 3.5ish-4 for a 16oz package, however strong you like it.

It's really as simple as mixing the grounds with the water in a large pitcher, and letting it steep in the fridge for 12-16hrs or so. Make sure you strain it well through a sieve and cheesecloth/coffee filter before serving if you don't want to be sucking up dusty sediment.

I brew a big batch of hot coffee, pour into mason jars, let cool, then put in fridge. whenever I want cold coffee, I grab one.

previously, i would let a bunch of ground coffee steep in a giant tupperware container overnight before i would filter it out the next day. it was dark, rich, and beautiful.

the only downside is the process is kind of annoying and it didn't last long if it just sat in the fridge. everyone who'd see it would pour themselves 8oz.

Try adding a teaspoon of maple syrup to a glass of cold brew!

coldbrew is vastly superior to hot brew coffee. probably hard to tell a difference if it isnt black though
