What is the best way to get a rare steak same as pic related when using a cast iron pan?
I have no access to grill because I live in an apartment that forbids bbq and grills. In the past I would get the pan extremely hot then put said steak on pan, flip after a minute or so, then flip again. This made my steak rare but jelly like.
Then I saw another recipe that said to keep flipping every 30 seconds or so until done but that seems completely fucking retarded.
Plz help cu/ck/s. I'm hungry and don't want to fuck up another steak.

Idk dude, i usually make them medium rare.
What helps getting a great crust is drying the surface out a bit in a 35 degree celcius oven on a rack for half an hour, that also brings the meat up to a good temperature. Now just sear it with butter and oil combo in a hot pan and you should be set

How long do you sear, and how often do you flip?

This, use garlic and thyme/Rosemary.

You put the steak in the pan, cook it for 5 minutes, and put it on a plate. Does that help?

I sear for a minute and a half per side more or less, depending on how thick the cut is. I only flip once. I also only season after the steak gets out of the pan
