I think I know which one you're talking about. It was reaching out to try and stop the knife, I think. It was really sad.
I think most people who try to excuse any stress and pain that the animals go through while being slaughtered do it as a defense mechanism so they don't have to feel bad.
This is why I at least try to get people to eat less meat and minimize waste, since I don't think veganism is ever going to work or accomplish that much. Get people to minimize their impact on animals low, and support cultured/"lab-grown" meat for the future. Once we get cultured meat in stores, I think a lot of people will start switching to that since it won't involve the death of an animal at all. I've even seen vegans saying they'll start eating meat again if they can get it.
Just need to make sure they don't alter it nutritionally, like taking out the fat and iron in the meat, since they can be good things for people who consume it in the right amounts.
