I'm about to go to the store soon and I'm kinda new to cooking. I want to keep my budget to roughly 20ish burgerbucks. What do I buy / make. Also my stove , and oven kinda suck but I can make do.

On the east coast you still have about an hour to attend most local farmers markets. You can get a fridges worth of vegetables and fruits for $10 - $12 dollars which is enough for a few days worth of salads. They either hit a butcher up or buy a WalMart rotisserie chicken and you're good for 3 - 4 days.

What kind of food do you like, and how many meals does the $20 need to last?

Also I only have maybe one or two onions, some russet potatoes, rice, butter , and pepper. So I'm getting salt for sure and maybe olive oil

If you need $20 to last a week, you're going to need to eat the *really* cheap food.

But the good news is that you'll have extra spices left over for next week, and that will let you stretch next week's $20 further.
