What do you think of Chartreuse?

I'm having some with soda right now.

No one here has had it.

What is it

Herbal liqueur made by monks, supposedly according to a medieval recipe for an elixir of life.

I always keep a bottle around, and give it to unsuspecting guests

it alright
there's definitely some hard to identify flavors, but overall its nothing special. I don't see what the big deal is.

tastes like spinach and grass liquor

It's great. Goes very well with tonic water, or club soda.

It's sort of like Campari or a Vermouth. You can drink it straight or whatever but 99% of the time you will have had it in a cocktail.

They do one with a Yellow label too if it's something you wanna try.

Did they really name the color after it?

does it taste like tree bark and shit like campari does?

>> No.9447397

Does it give that same lucid drunkeness as absinthe?

>> No.9447459

It's delicious. A bartender let me have a free shot of it one time. There are a few herbal liqueurs on my shopping list, this one included.

Tastes kind of like a candy cane.

no

Not bitter at all - predominantly sweet and minty with some warm spice and other subtler anise/herbal-type notes to give it some complexity, fairly straightforwardly pleasant but with a fair amount of burn from the high abv, kind of like some sort of small-batch artisanal mouth wash in the best possible way

Anyone else here have it in hot chocolate in the winter? It's very good

will have to try that, thanks for the tip

Good but kind of overpriced. Same with Campari. There are other herb liqueurs that I like more that are usually cheaper.

became too obsessed with it when i first found out about it and drank way too many bottles of it over a short time. got sick of it and now i feel like i will probably never drink it again.
