How ethical is it to pay entirely in change at fast food places by handing piles of coins to the cashier and having them count it out for you?
Even if you were to count it out yourself, they're still gonna count it again because even a nickel missing could dock their pay, so there's no point.

I took my change jar to starbucks and paid something like $7 in pennies and nickels.
They spent 3 minutes counting it because they're idiots and act like they've never seen coins before.
People behind me started shouting at me it was the middle of the addict rush (8AM) and I was holding up the line for their addiction milkshakes.

Also, I don't know about where you are, but here the stores will generally keep stacks of 50 or 100 in special paper tubes which they just crack open into the register if they need more change.
I personally just request some of those tubes every once in a while and fill them up with change, they have both a set length and the weight of a full tube written on them so they can just check either of them if they want to make sure you're not trying to bamboozle them.
