why do you think Americans are afraid of matcha? It's kind of a trendy thing in places like Trader Joe's grocery stores and local coffeehouses. But by and large, America is a coffee drinking nation, first and foremost, and matcha is kind of a super-niche thing that's really only drank significantly Japan.

Oops, what I meant was, yeah, fuck those Amerisharts! bunch of stupid burgers who pour corn syrup on everything! :^)

matcha has been a meme here for a few "meme of the year" rotations by now. I guess you could say americans are afraid of it when prepared traditionally because I can find it easily in all sorts of desserts but not as a simple tea.

Many boards of 4chan have the dichotomy of patrician/plebeian deeply integrated into their cultures. In this context, a patrician is someone with good taste and a profound understanding of the medium (often, too, associated with watching the most obscure foreign films you can find), while a pleb is your common peasant who watches movies for entertainment and wants to discuss the latest American blockbuster. This idea transferred into the films themselves, with people turning what we commonly know as synonyms of film into identities that are grouped within the patrician/plebeian context. There is no consensus because it's more of a meme than a serious thing, but basically kinography > film > movies > flicks. So if you're a cultured patrician, you only watch "kino", because film is for plebs, and movies or flicks are just laughable.

Language is flexible you stupid faggot. Do you take everything literally? Do you not understand the very basic notion that words gain new meaning over time and with repeated use? Kino has taken on new meaning within this very community. You completely refusing to accept that just speaks volumes for how much of a grumpy old dick you are.

>> No.9259783

>>9259765
>Language is flexible you stupid faggot.

I get that. I'm asking you to explain your thought process behind choosing to use the word in that manner.

>>Do you take everything literally?
Yes. Easier to avoid misunderstanding that way.

>>Do you not understand the very basic notion that words gain new meaning over time and with repeated use?
Yes. I'm asking why people choose to change these new meanings over time. I'd like to know your thought process behind it. Was there a specific reason involved? Or is this just the usual "accepting the mannerisms of a group in order to fit in"

>>Kino has taken on new meaning within this very community
I get that. I want to understand the logic (or perhaps lack thereof) behind that.

>>You completely refusing to accept that just speaks volumes
You misunderstand, anon. I get that the meaning has changed. I want to understand why. I want to see the reasoning behind it.

For example, the first time you used "kino" in this context: Why? Did you do it because you thought it better expressed the idea you wanted to convey? Did you do it because that's what the cool kids were doing and you just wanted to fit in? Did you do it subconsciously--i.e. there was no thought involved, you just picked it up without thinking about it? Or perhaps those guesses are all wrong and there's some other answer?

ok so you are definitely autistic. I'm done here.

>> No.9259822

>>9259803
Yet you can fix that by simply answering the questions posed. Why aren't you doing that? They're just simple questions, anon.

The only thing I can conclude here is that you're embarrassed by your answer. That implies there is no real reason for this, you're just using random words to fit in to a culture yo agree with.

I feel that justifies my cringe at your silly behavior.

>> No.9259857

>Are you expecting people to back you up or something?

Nope, I'm just hoping that someone can explain their word choice. I'd like to know if there is reasoning behind it, or if it's just some silly meme shit. I think it's the latter, but I don't want to jump to conclusions so I thought it was prudent to ask first.

But again, I keep asking questions that nobody is answering. So, like I said above, the only thing I can conclude is that it really is just silly shit and nobody is willing to man up and admit it.

if you're from yurop, starbucks over there is even more hilariously overpriced than it is here, and most people can drop a fiver on a fucking coffee (or half sugar/caramel, a dash of coffee, and a ton of milk -- and to be honest, the only time I bother with Starbucks is when I want shit like that, I'll go somewhere cheaper and better if I want actual coffee)
was in barcelona at the end of a cruise a few years ago, walked into Starbucks to go pee, and laughed my face off when I looked at the prices
