Everyone just cooking a bowl of red along with some cornbread puts in beans or omits them as to their personal preference and does not bow to some kind of chili god.

Look at the state, look at the lines, realize it was a mistake, and then further realize how inept you are for not being able to piece two and two together. If Nevada and the Carolinas arent flyovers than neither is the coastal Pacific Northwest. What kind of standards did this person use to make this map?

Lets drop the biscuits for a second. The biscuits are just one of many ways to serve the actual state food: The Virginia Ham. Nobody else does ham like us. Texas and the Carolinas and Kansas and so many other southern states can jockey over barbecue, but nobody can touch our ham standard. If you haven't had one, you don't know.

My vote still goes to Louisiana to win the state food contest though. The damned Cajuns are like a swiss army knife of some of the best, most various cuisine in the world.

Lol, that shit happens everywhere. I can recall a great example: My grandparents (British) visited the other side of our family (Danish) one year. My British grandfather, who normally claimed to "hate mashed potatoes" was incredibly impressed with the Danish family's cooking. This was discussed at dinner and the lady who cooked the meal explained that she just used a standard recipe with potatoes, milk, and butter. Nothing special about it. Instantly British Grandmother starts shreiking about "well we're not rich people so we just don't do things that way", etc. Nevermind the fact that they were far from poor.

I think this sort of thing is universal for old people who get stuck in their ways regardless of country.

I live in San Diego and the healthy options are flying off the shelves. Gourmet raw food has been increasingly more flavorful and wonderful as of late. Must be the maturation of that specific food style coming to fruition.

>pig pickin'

My fucking negro. I remember as a kid going to pig pickins and getting a paper plate loaded with smoked pork and pig face. Good times.

Since I moved back here, I've had a job that requires me to visit restaurants within a 50 mile radius, and the bbq joints are off the fucking hook. Here are a couple recent eats

>pimento grilled cheese sandwich, smoked potato salad, blue cheese coleslaw
>sliced brisket sandwich, corn pudding, and hashbrown casserole
>This barbecue restaurant literally in some rural neighborhood in Midway, NC. For 15 bucks I got a quart container full of smoked brisket, an entire plastic sleeve of hamburger buns, a pint of vinegar slaw, and a pint of western style sauce. Shit is making me drool just thinking about it.
