I also find it humorous that a railing even needs to be installed, but not just that, it needs to have slates that are no further apart from each other than 2 inches or the insurance company won't insure your house. The railing height was recently changed to be much higher in their regulations. Though that only affects new houses, not older ones with pre-existing railings.
