It's pretty common knowledge that a government agency in the US, such as the FDA, is highly influenced by lobbyists, and that our fundamental institutions, such as making sure that people are properly fed, are highly dictated by the pull of advanced capitalism, the need to govern the largest first world nation on Earth, with a decentralized, popularly elected government, and simple pragmatics.

It seems like such an easy solution, but there's so much bureaucracy and bipartisan BS in the US, which is huge and divided, that things aren't quite so simple.

Our current administration is the worst we've had in the the modern era, and is basically run by a mobster...

Yeah, no professionals think that the American diet is great, but the turnover of government officials happens so quickly that nobody is willing to risk their career on anything long term (Obama tried). Everything is about ME ME ME, Gib me more money! Fuck the children! Still, it's about people in short term roles caving into the status quo because that's how the government works. The people with the money - who actually have power - are the ones making billions from corn. Who do you think they're going to throw that money at? The country works like a corporation - evading every rule and regulation with a straight face, especially when they hurt their base - and hopefully when people finally realize how much damage Trump has done things might change a bit.

This isn't bad for you. Ruminant trans fats aren't the same as hydrogenated trans fats. Also polyunsaturated fats like vegetable oil are much worse. Saturated fats are good for you and have nothing to do with it. It's all the sugar people eat. Aslo the average American gets double the recommended salt intake and not nearly enough protein. Old people get weak really easily

I'm saying an excessive amount of saturated fats is bad, and demonstrably worse for you heart than the same amount of unsaturated fats. You'd do best to not "eat tons" of any type of fat.
