Not a vegan. I eat all food animals. But I have enough empathy to realize that mammals feel emotions similar to our own. Cows and pigs learn from their experiences and can identify individual humans. And the list goes on. It's not a realistic solution in any way. Environmental impact is still terrible, sometimes even worse, still bad for health. Makes absolutely no sense any way you look at it.

The point is you have to accept that animals die for our pleasure. You can argue you are morally superior because you kill less animals by eating meat, but they still die even to provide you with plant based foods. If vegans truly believe animals shouldn't die for our pleasure they should eat at maintenance for the rest of their lives and never over eat or have treats. It is a danger to workers, but improperly stunned animals are not always thrashing around (although that does happen in scalding tanks). Slaughterhouse workers have high rates of work related injuries, and stunned animals returning to sensitivities is a risk, but it happens in the best slaughterhouses for between 2-7% of the animals.
