Does heavy whipping cream actually go bad?

I want to start putting it in my coffee but even the smallest container has like, 40 servings and it says to use within a week of opening. Is that just the company covering themselves legally and you can refrigerate it for a long time?

Yes, it does go bad, but in my experience it lasts a fuck of a lot longer than 1 week.

That said, surely you can find other uses for it before it goes bad. Use it to make whipped cream for desserts. Drink it. Make your own ice cream. Make sauces, creamy soups....etc... Heavy cream is one of those things that has a zillion uses in the kitchen.
