Been awhile since i started one of these. Got some new to me beer to drink tonigh so why not!

Usual drinking, looking for or cellaring anything?

Started out with the second one i had from Mikkellers new San diego location. Better than the first one, very nice mouthfeel. Slight hints of aloe vera almost!

Slightly older bottle of this one so it might be that but it feels faded and not as flavorful as i expected. Some sort of strange tinge of yogurt on the nose as well. They used oat milk in it i believe so it might be that, strange no matter what.

I like wheat beer fine, especially hefeweizen
Your whole schtick that people who drink beer don't know what they actually like and only buy things because of image is just wrong, and not based on any reality. I'm sure image plays a role at some level, but its a pretty small factor, People mostly just buy what they like, and a lot of people like IPA, and a lot of people who are into beer really fucking like big stouts. Thats not because there is something wrong with wheat beer or because people are afraid to like them as your absurd hypothesis goes, its just because the best available wheat beers just aren't quite as good as the best IPA and Stout to most people

And here we go with the moving goalposts.

You seem to be unable to discuss beer culture objectively without getting defensive and thinking that it's always about you, personally. You should learn to detach yourself a bit, instead of getting fanny flustered at any perceived slight towards something three or four degrees of separation from you, personally. Otherwise you get into weird logical traps where you end up making these incoherent arguments like "lotsa people blah blah blah because {extremely broad generalization} oh but in reality {inverse of what I just said} because like, I don't live in 2007 California (or the Deep South as you sometimes like to say)

Don't take this so personally, post-prohibition trauma is a thing, and if it is still hurting you (which it seems to be), the sooner you can let go of the resentment the sooner you can heal.

Post-prohibition trauma is with us to this day, case in point: you. You're actually shitting yourself with rage at the idea that someone said something bad about why people don't like wheat beer. Even though you basically agreed with it a few posts ago. Beer drinking culture in this country is still trying to come to grips with the fact that for decades, it was unpatriotic to drink anything other than Bud Light, even Coors was pretentious. You can deny it all you like but all your raging about "is it still 2007" just drives the point home further. It's about proving that you're at a specific point on a progress line that exists in your head. God forbid anyone think you're too early on that progress line! On some level you recognize that it's the same mentality that makes people eschew wheat beers, and that's why you're getting so defensive. In before I'm autistic again.

This is surely true of the elder generations, and not simply about what was patriotic, good beer often just wasn't available
but people in their 20s and 30s did not have to deal with that

what questions?

most people dont have huge disposable incomes. drinking nice beer every day adds up, especially if you plan on getting drunk and seeing as you personally have such difficulty achieving a buzz that shit must be pricey.

that's cool if you really have such a large disposable income that you don't have to worry about budgeting or if you just drink that infrequently but that just isn't the situation with most people, especially on here I would imagine.

not being able to get buzzed off PBR might also be true but you must recognize that, that is not the usual.

Eh, I've experienced both ends of the spectrum when it comes to disposable income, and I've enjoyed as much craft beer as I want throughout. a 6 pack of pbr is roughly 3-4 dollars cheaper than a six pack of amazing beer. If you aren't willing to spend the extra money, then chances are you like getting drunk more than you like beer.

I work at a brewery and homebrew regularly. I'd never have to buy a beer again if I didn't want to, but there was a time where an ungodly portion of my paycheck went to rent and 9/10 my beer cost more than my dinner.
