QTDDTOT
I'm starting one because I have a question that doesn't deserve its own thread. Also, these are usually comfy threads.

My QTDDTOT is

I want to make breakfast cups like pic related, but I don't want to use bread for the base. I want to figure out how to use shredded potatoes/hashbrowns instead, but I'm afraid I'll either burn them or leave them too raw, or that they won't stick together.

What would /ck/ suggest? My initial idea was to fry up shredded potatoes till "pretty crisp" in little discs and put those in the bottom of the cups. But will I burn them this way if I also bake them for 10m?

I've started fucking around with Jasmine rice. Being American, I'm used to seasoning white rice with salt and butter. Tried this with the jasmine, and it tasted exactly like popcorn. Didn't exactly compliment the main dish.

What seasoning should I use for jasmine rice?

Not really sure how that would work, sounds good and it's worth a try!

Season it with whatever fits the meal. I usually season the water I boil my rice in, that way it's seasoned all the way through.

My roommate makes these all the time. She doesn't use any sort of bread. Just eggs with green onions and bacon pieces baked in a muffin tray

Won't the egg stick to the muffin tray that way? I wasn't going to do an entire "cup" of bacon with the bottom and everything, I'm trying to make this bacon last me some time.

My roommate really likes rice with rice vinegar on it. We also use jasmine. You can use anything you want to though - garlic salt, soy sauce, chili powder. You could make a tare sauce with mirin that would keep a while in the fridge if you eat a lot of rice. Ponzu sauce would also be good. Personally, I like it plain.

She just lines the muffin tins with lots of butter. If you wanna do it on the cheap just use some spray shit though

I did end up using frozen shredded hashbrowns which I fried in the bacon grease in little rounds about the size of the muffin tin. I fried them until they were just barely golden on both sides and tucked them down into the tin, wrapped bacon around the outside, and dropped the egg in.

The potatoes were very greasy from the combination of bacon grease and the oil sprayed into the muffin tin. I only did a few, so now I know for next time, I won't use as much oil in the tin and will pat the extra oil off the potatoes.

Picture incoming

Wa-la, complete with really awful looking strawberry roses and a leftover party paper plate. Really seals the deal.
