Our produce farms are dependent on underpaid and exploited illegal immigrants for picking, it takes 2-6 weeks for "fresh" meat to go from our slaughterhouses to supermarkets, our poultry farms are overseen by corporations that provide chicks and then financially rape the farmers for their upkeep, politicians in the midwest actively push to make filming inside cattle and pork farms a criminal offense in order to protect them from being fined over health violations, etc.. Basically most Americans are dependent on fast and pre-packaged food and are completely disconnected from how it's produced.
