Well, no one has ever said that to me, so I don't know how I'd respond. I'd probably just make a joke about it.
As far as guilty pleasure dishes that I would choose over my own cooking, that would involve things that I don't have the right equipment to make properly myself - like gyro meat, shawarma, whole hog bbq, sashimi (I can make sashimi easily, but I have to drive 40 miles to get to the nearest sashimi grade fish market). Or things that I don't have time to make at the moment.

Never heard this because people actually respect me enough. Still the little touche are important, something restaurants do every time you might not be able to do every single time you cook something. For example I'm sure as hell not gonna buy a bottle of wine when I make a basic tomato sauce, also restaurants tend to use more salt than usual.
