ck official stance on Better than Bouillon? I got in an argument with my friend who said it's no better than just using premade broths from cans or boxes but I always thought it was a good middle ground between that crap and real, homemade broths

Agreed. BtB lasts forever and is the best sub for a good homemade broth/stock. And let's be honest about making a stock from scratch

I use this quite alot now.
way less chemicals in it than other stock concentrates

I like it for the fact that it lasts forever in the fridge. Yeah its pricey, but I don't use a cup or two and just throw the rest away like store bought stock.

As for homemade stock this anon gets it.>>8597155

I'll agree that BTB is far better than powder or canned broths, but I can't possibly see how it's better than homemade stock.

BTB shares the same problem that most store-bought cubes/canned/boxed broth has: lack of gelatin content. That's very easy to achieve in a homemade stock.

Now I'll certainly agree that it's more convenient than homemade, but better than homemade? Hell no.

I make my own stock, boil it down to a glaze and freeze it in ice cube trays, One cube is a bout 250mL of stock. Lasts just as long, is a quater of the price and is way better.

America's Test Kitchen did a blind tasting of many different stocks and broths in one of their episodes.
Better Than Bouillon was the top pick. It even beat many of the canned/boxed liquid broths, and they proceeded to shit all over a bunch of major brands including "organic" labeled shit that cost quite a bit more.
Its a show that I trust, that does scientific method blind tastings, using both panels of experts, and groups of random amateur tasters. I tend to trust their findings, so I'd say yeah you're good to go using this concentrate.
