Is homemade hot sauce simply as easy as taking peppers and blending them together with vinegar?

Try adding some ginger, shallot, palm sugar, fish sauce or shrimp paste too.

It's not worth making when you can get Frank's Res Hot for like 4 dollars

I ferment mine,

I got Frank's red hot and the xxxtra hot. The original Frank's is garbage sauce, I'd rather have Tabasco. Frank's has the unenviable position of being both bland and overly salty, with an unpleasant gritty texture. The extra hot is ok, at least it has heat, and it's less salty to my palate.
All I want is a decent vinegar based hot sauce

Cool. Do you have any recommendations for hot sauce other than Frank's?
