Not OP, but those are legit called alligator pears in some parts of the US and other countries. I have cookbooks from around the country dating back to the late 1800s, and you can find references to "alligator pears" in nearly all of them, even the more modern books.

It's never been "new" here, at least not in any state along the southern border. We call it cilantro because that's what it's called in central and south america. Oddly though, we still call the seeds coriander. If you live in a diverse metro area, though, the names for the leaves are interchangeable depending on what market/restaurant you're in, some call it coriander, some call it cilantro.

I know you come from the United Khaliphate of Cucks so you don't know anything about good food or cooking, so let me explain:

Coriandrum sativum, is the plant's taxonomic name.
Cilantro, is the name of the herb, used fresh.
Coriander is the spice, or the ground dehydrated seed.

That's the difference between an herb and a spice. It is used extensively in Asian/Mediterranean cuisines (were fags would misname it as "chinese parsley") as well in Mexican since it's reminiscent to the native Culantro herb. Some people with inferior genetics can't eat the herb because they perceive it as "soap."

t. Not an "amerilard"

>>8505447
>Some people with inferior genetics can't eat the herb because they perceive it as "soap."

You mean white people who didn't evolve with it in their diet.

Americans like it because they have negro/amerind admixture.

That's actually superior genetics.
The ones who enjoy it have lost the ability to discern potentially poisonous plants using their taste buds, meaning they have to chew a plant, spit it out and wait for it to take effect to know if it's dangerous to consume.

That's generally an aversion to bitter foods.

Although coriander can cause allergic reactions (as can most foods), it's most likely the aldehydes it produces that trigger the soapy flavour that some perceive. These aren't, generally speaking, an indicator of a poisonous food. In fact, they are often used as food additives to improve or completely synthesise flavour and aroma.
