what are some good MREs

>> No.8385138

>>8385131
Lithuanian ones are cheap and good. Can't go wrong with the French RCIR. Haven't had many modern American MREs tho

>> No.8385150

I'm sure FREs are great for actual soldiers n shit but something about dry alc and a little stove is just wonderful. Plus being able to at least have some level of control over the heat so I can cook food instead of just warming it up is nice.

Anyway my favorites are the eastern european MREs. They're usually really hearty and basic stuff. Ya get crackers, ya get some jam, ya get (usually) a meaty and starchy main.

If I had to live off of rations though, jap self defense force MREs are top tier. They have really high quality FREs that actually cook shit and can boil water if you've got just water in there, usually a really good serving of rice, and fruit flavored rock candy. Plus meat and whatever else. Usually crackers/biscuits.

Old ones

>> No.8385518

They used to be pretty bad, but they've changed up the menus and they are getting better. It's still good meant to last without refrigeration, and can be generally eaten cold.

I haven't been able to find a jalapeno and cheese spread pack in fucking years.

Yeah, I've been told Lithuanian ones are good, that they come with like, canned stuffed peppers and even rumcake for desert, sounds fucking nice for army rations.

I tried a Pakistani military ration pack.
It consisted of a bag of rice and no toilet paper.

As someone who spent 3 months building and living on an OP in the middle of the fucking desert, let me tell you this:

Veggie Omelette was (Discontinued) the best MRE. Why? Because nobody eat them. They were ALWAYS left in the box. Always rat fucked beyond recognition. But you take a couple of bottles of tabasco and put it on that gelatenous block, and you're in for a good meal.

I've had a number of MREs as the son of a retired army sfc, but my favorite thing in em has to be jalapeno cheese spread on a cracker. I love that shit.

I thought I was the only person alive who didn't mind the vege omelette. Tabasco improves the taste of everything though.

My favorites were always chili mac and chili with beans beans. Pound cake and ranger bars are always good.

I kind of like the look of the British ones. You can get those all-day-breakfast packs in the morning (beans, sausage, etc). Toothpaste tube full of nutella. Tea with every meal. Sometimes there's toffee pudding for dessert. Yum.

>>8386112
That's not how you eat that. You squeeze the cheese out onto your hands and then roll it around into the dust that those stupid fucking crackers inevitably turn into.

That being said, the crackers were nice to dip in the chili or the taco gel.

The toffee pudding isn't great, it's essentially a giant block of sugar, it sticks to your teeth like a bastard.
The breakfasts are pretty good but most of the desserts are universally detested.
A few years ago we had this fruit dumplings in butterscotch sauce abortion. Never saw anyone eat the fucker.
