Go to a sit down diner. Table up a few rows has 4 teens 2 cheerleaders and 2 guys. Girls get up to go to salad bar. Guys proceed to put several drops of liquid into each girls glass.

Giant alpha of a man see's this and grabs a server and ask for manager. Walks up to table and tells the teens to throw the drinks out or get their asses beat.

People in diner start freaking out because they did not see what the teens did. People getting angry at alpha man. Man threatens to call police and the teens all gtfo.

Was pretty surreal.

A couple of years ago when my friend told me about 4chan and I came across this cooking section I saw everyone talking about the perfect steak. So I went to the local steakhouse and ordered a steak medium-rare, when my normal request would have been medium. The steak came and it was pink in the middle and bloody. One night my partner no called no showed on the double I was working
The restaurant was slammed from 4 Till 12 no breaks no none could even leave the line
After when it was time to break my station down (I was scheduled on Fry) I decided to filter the fryers first
I had 6 fryers to filter but there was so much stuff at the bottom of the fryers that I had to use a spatula to scrape all the crumbs and batter out before I could even filter them
There was at least 4 inches of stuff at the bottom of each one
After that I start filtering them
I get about half way through the fryers when on the third one the latch for the hose pops out and all the oil from the fryer starts pouring out
I try to put the hose on but the oil is burning my hands
I grab a towel and say fuck it and try to put the hose back in but the lock to keep it in place won't move and I just burn my hand more
The chef is no where to be found the manager's left all ready and the rest of the people on the line just watch as the oil is still spilling out of the fryer or just continue cleaning because it's not affecting them
I try to use a bucket but it fills up in seconds and it got to hot to pick it up and is just over flowing with oil
Every one finishes there stuff and leaves except one guy who tries to help stop the oil but we bolth just end up sitting watching the last of the oil come out
I'm covered in oil looking like I just Jumped in the harbor
My km comes in looks at the floor doesn't say anything and walks out back to where ever he came from
(I think he was at the bar 2 buildings down) the guy trying to help me leaves and I have to clean up the oil filter the last 2 fryers fil the empty one up
Stock for the am crew
Flip the sauces
Clean all my tables fryers and walls
Clean the filter
Oh and the last person who leaves has to sweep and mop the kitchen
(Bosses incentive to clean fast)
I got out of there soaking wet in oil at 3:30
Got home at 4
Never went to that place agein

I work in hospitality, and it's my belief that there are very few situations that a restaurant should do this
it's truly awful behavior, I have strong opinions about this

1. if they are open at set times, they have no excuse for pushing people out
it might not be worth them staying open, but it's what they advertised so it's what they should do

2. if diners arrive late, they should be told.
letting a diner order then pushing them along is unacceptable

3. if diners arn't ordering, and are overstaying, it's OK to ask them to leave
but it's far better to give early notice to diners who seem to be lingering, than to wait till 10 minutes before close and pressuring folks who simply might have lost track of time

4. no staring out of the pass window/from in the kitchen, no exceptions
we dont let diners gawk at the chefs, the chefs shouldn't gawk at the patrons

I was having dinner at a nice restaurant called Bridges with my partner and her three kids for her birthday, along with their elderly lady nanny.

I decided to order the jambalaya but I asked the waiter to make mine not spicy (because I'm allergic to pepper). The food arrived quickly and it looked terrific but as soon as I took the first bite I started to cough, then began to choke. To my horror I realized that the jambalaya had pepper in it - a LOT of pepper. The choking got worse and I couldn't breathe but then the nanny came running over yelling

"HELP IS ON THE WAY DEAR!"

She got into position behind me and started to firmly give me the heimlich maneuver. After what felt like forever a piece of shrimp flew out of my throat and suddenly I could breathe again. I turn to thank her for saving my life but I froze when I saw that her "face" was a prosthetic and had peeled off. My date's nanny was a man!

It's one of the only really bad ones I remember, but it was when I was a kid. I went to a Korean martial arts camp for a weekend and was super stoked about it. The first night I went into the lodge to get some food with my dad, and my dad told me to pick whatever I wanted. They had signs set up with the menu, so I saw "Squishy Roll" and "Kimjee" and thought those sounded really good. Imagine the surprised when six year old me gets a 3-piece of sushi rolls and a hefty cup of the most vinegary Kimchi you've ever seen. I got by by asking what extra I can do, trying to clean anything I possibly can, and if you don't get yelled at for doing so you can stay extra time as long as you're doing something important or helpful to those who are doing the important stuff. A task as simple as washing dishes makes people love you, but ultimately it sounds like you were completely screwed over unfairly to start and didn't get to prevent it in time.

Many days i would get no deliveries at all. About half the calls were for carryout, and if there was one delivery call, I didn't get it, i had to wait for a second one to do it. I had to ask for more hours, it simply wasn't worth the wear and tear on my car for $80 a week

On top of it all, our friend actually got his boxed up, ate it later, and he said it was the worst food he ever ate. That was our go-to Asian place until then. That was about a year ago, anytime somebody mentions that place I tell a condensed version of that story. Trying to put it out of business, service like that has no excuse.
