Martinez

>Two parts full-flavored(non-dry) gin
Most bars tend to have Hendricks. This works fine. Junipero makes a brown gin that was fantastic for it.
>One part sweet vermouth
>Dash of Maraschino cherry liqueur
>two dashes aromatic bitters
Orange bitters are a good choice
>add all ingredients over ice and STIR. DO NOT SHAKE.
It is important for this drink to have a smooth texture. Shaking it aerates the drink and makes it taste dry. This is a Martinez, not a martini.

Serve in coup glass with orange twist.

many variations exist for this cocktail wich, as Byron stated, is just a gin manhattan variation; starting from the quality of sweet vermouth and balance between gin and vermouth.
wich vermouth do you use?
