My main gripe about servers is that I have worked in the industry for so long that I know that when minimum wage goes up, BoH hours get cut and I'm less likely to get a DESERVED raise because the employer can't afford it. (1 being worst service ever and 10 being best service ever, this is how you should tip at a restaurant).

10 - 25% tip plus a very heartfelt, thankful comment. Tips by nature should never be over 25% unless you are wealthy enough to afford such a generous act. The nice words are almost worth more than the tip (although they'll be jumping for joy with the tip afterwards).
