An elementary school in the same county as the one I attended apparently did have them. At least for a few years. We had regular cartons for milk, foil-covered cups for juice.

I have no fond memories of the rectangle pizza people like to bring up. But, there were these red desserts that were somewhere in between water ice and a popsicle. The package was in these weird shapes that I can't think of some sort of "-hedron."

When I was in elementary school, half pints of milk were six cents each and a whole lunch was thirty-five cents. By the time I got to high school, lunch was a dollar. But many of us spent that dollar on a joint. We smoked our lunch. Back then, high school students were allowed to smoke. They even gave us two smoke breaks during the school day.

In America, there is a main dish served per day. So Monday, Tuesday, etc would be different shit. But Chicken Sandwiches, Pizza, and Burgers were always served a la carte if you weren't feeling the main meal.

If you were smart, you'd go into the main line, since it lead to all the rest of them, got the main meal, and when the workers weren't looking, grabbed a chicken sandwich or a burger and hid it in between your backpack and your back.

This was the best way to get /fit/. You could pocket an extra milk box also if you had the opportunity. Florida here, the school food system differs depending on the states though.

no it's pretty much alright my friend.
the reason we can do this is because we don't have a horrific wage gap.

Don't upset the Americans mate.
In every American food thread - nobody posts anything.

Yet when it comes to other countries they are happy to post memes.

it just goes to show that America has nothing to offer culinary-wise .. .but we all knew that anyway.

desu this is from one of the three festive meals of the year wich explains the cookies and the tian, but we still had a little salad, a pastry, a mini loaf, as many fruits as you want and a main dish where you chose between two veggies and two meats. None of thoses weird trays shit.
It's all I can find online since I don't have pics from back then.
What really cracks me up is there is never a glass or non-plastic utensils on the pictures.

I didn't have to eat the garbage they served at my school, my mother made me my lunch every day for 13 years. Chicken salad sandwich, fruit, a granola bar, and water.

where's the ranch? The square with the pretzel/mustard should just be a ranch trough for dipping

I went to school many years ago I we all had glasses and metal cutlery . . .maybe Americans can't be trusted with them.

But when I went to school it wasn't a cafeteria type thing - you had what you were given, there was none if this - "But I'm a Vegan rubbish" !

We had great meals and we had a 'Dinner Lady' who would watch us return our plates and if they were half-full, she would send us back to our table to finish it!

True story.
