the one by CUMC? I'll take your word on it. I thought Dinosaur BBQ was also really good but idk where it stands. Apparently Pig beach over in brooklyn was also highly reccommended

Quicker/cheaper/fast foody places
Burger Joint
Criff's Dogs
Superiority burger for a great vegetarian burger in east village
Halal Guys
Ivan Ramen Slurp shop Vegetable Ramen (<-favorite vegetarian dish in nyc)
X'ian Famous Foods
Shake shack, obviously (the maneuver here is single smokeshack)
Russ and Daughter's for Bagels and lox
By Chloe (if you want vegan food).
Saguette in harlem for the best pho i've ever had

Sit down but not that expensive:
Breslin Lamb Burger
Spotted Pig Burger
Shanghai cafe for soup dumplings (my favorite dish in NYC)
Bassanova for Green Curry Ramen (would be my favorite dish in NYC but last time I went it wasn't as good so it's been dethroned).
Nom Wah Tea Parlor for Dim Sum
Jing Fong for slightly more elaborate dim sum.
Turntable Chicken for Korean Fried Chicken
Katz's for pastrami
Ippudo but not for ramen for pork buns
Kang Ho Dong Baekjong for KBBQ but if you can make it to Flushing or Palisades park the korean food out there is better.
Roberta's for Pizza
Pocha 32 (korean army base stew and watermelon soju)
Jin Ramen (up in Harlem but one of my favorite Ramen places)

More expensive/fancy places:
Momofuku Ssam bar > Nishi > Ma Peche
Sushi Yasaka for affortable omakase.
L'artusi (might have to make a late reservation but it's very much worth it)
Boloud Sud
Mission Chinese (hit or miss IMO)
Upland (sorta hard to get a table, go on the early side)

Food Markets worth checking out:
Eataly (go on a weekday).
Kalustyan's (really cool food market)

If you want good chinese don't fall for any memes, get on the 7 and go to flushing

Even the food court beneath Jmart is fucking aces, great takoyaki and hand pulled noodles

Also thanks for the other stuff. I'm analyzing distances as I go but these are my observations so far:

-Ippudo sounds like an interesting alternative, but definitely not doable for lunch

-Nom Wah is definitely an after work trip and is right by this place called Apokethe I've heard does great cocktails and mixers

- Halal guys Ive had before, granted the last time I was there I was 17 and super duper high, like fuck a dude high

- My vegan ex was gaga about going to By Chloe one day, I personally dont care but its nice to know it exists

- Shanghai cafe is another after work trip i'd have to make.

On a side note, what about indian and latin stuff? I was reccommended by a friend to check out this place called Mint over in Midtown East but it seems too fancy for me. I like my indian more lowbrow kebab shop style

>Takoyaki

I'm trying to remember but theres this place over in the village that also made some bomb ass takoyaki and that baked fish pancake pastry with the jelly on the inside but i cant remember the name because I was white boy wasted at the time

List poster here: mexican bodegas/food trucks here or there that make al pastor tacos pretty good but not amazing. This list is not comprehensive but it's fine enough: http://ny.eater.com/maps/best-tacos-taqueria-new-york-city-brooklyn-queens

As for Indian, check out curry hill neighborhood. Another "fine" sietsema list: http://ny.eater.com/maps/sietsemas-old-and-new-curry-hill-favorites

Joe's is watery shit though. Sicilian is great IF you can get it fresh. If they have to reheat something they get the mexicans to do it and they always fuck up and burn it.

Where the Sicilian is now was a place called Sabella's (before the last pizza place that was there). It was bar none the best. If you never had pizza prepared by an old hairy italian in a wifebeater (who isn't wearing gloves) while Married with Children played 24/7 in the background you haven't truly lived.

>>8206548
Washington heights I could definitely do, I take the bus in so this works in my favor.

>>8206546
Wow this is awesome thanks. Its a lot to work with but i can digest it eventually. Biggest issue is honestly finding where I can go within my hour lunch break and what I'll have to get after work. I only know Jin Ramen because its literally two streets away from my job and i havent really bothered to venture much further yet

Christ I havent laughed that hard in ages. That literally describes my (not blood) Sicilian uncle that has a pizza joint down in North Jersey. Like to a T, except he plays Seinfeld in the background and for some reason whenever I come in its always the Beefarino episode on.

Oh, I live in Washington heights so I know a bunch of uptown spots

Harlem:
Repeating Saguiette for great Pho
Pistichi's (near Jin, really good)
Dinosaur BBQ (never been but people like?)
Red Rooster (maybe a bit far from you)
Harlem Shake for burgers

A bunch of spots in hamilton heights too:
Handpull Noodle
Bono Trattoria
Anchor Wine Bar
Harlem Public (decent burger)
Welcome to the Johnsons for a fun bar
Chinelos II for dingy mexican bodega.
Geisha sushi is ok for sushi i guess.

Further up in washington heights:
Saggio (more italian, one of my favorite places in the city)
Tazso cafe
Tampopo ramen
Tasty Deli (amazing sandwiches near Columbia hospital)

>>8206616

OP here I was interested in Saguiette before, it seems like something i might do for lunch but how far is it a walk from the 125th street station? I made the mistake of taking the A train figuring i could walk due west to work; big mistake without accounting for the topography of the giant hill i had to climb.

I'll screencap the rest and look it as i go

>> No.8206690

>>8206627
Jin is also slightly more expensive judging from the menu. The kissatsen next door is more interesting.

>> No.8206700

>>8206681

Going from broadway to the blue line sucks up there because of the topography. You're better off hitting those hamilton heights spots off the 1. There's also a lot down towards the UWS on the 1 as wekk

Some places you can probably get to without much trouble:
Han Dynasty on 86th and Broadway is some of my favorite chinese food.
French Roast
Jacob's pickles for fried chicken sandwiches.

I liked Kissaten, but i'm always sort of underwhelmed by the food there. There's a decent middle eastern spot up the block for just regular falafel stuff (Falafel on Broadway.

>>8206700
>I liked Kissaten, but i'm always sort of underwhelmed by the food there
Yeah its kinda blase now that i think about it, but authentic.

Still I guess the pho place will have to be for one of those days after work then.

Handpulled noodle I could check out next week (home ATM).

And in regards to Dinosaur, I personally liked it, although I never got a chance to try the beer. The pulled pork mesquite sandwich was great as was the pulled pork burrito

Latin stuff:

Oaxacan place in the Bronx called "La Morada"

>> No.8208104

What about good bars in Lower Manhattan? I'm a New Yorker but I don't get to go to bars that often but when I do I sorta wing in throughout the EV and LES, sometimes I have a lot of fun but other times I'm kinda underwhelmed.

I like places that are crowded but not retardedly crowded, good drinks, diverse, and not too expensive.

Starbucks. Nobody mentioned but you should try it
