Don't be too sure. The cooks themselves were convicts and took great pride in the quality of their food. The Hyatt Regency offers food that mirrors Alcatraz menus.

Helluva lot better than they get in some deep south prisons. Saw where recently the Mississippi Legislature authorized a maximum caloric intake of 1500 calories per day per prisoner, no matter whether their activity level is busting rock on the chain gang (yes we have those too) or laying around in a cell.

Of course, the prisons are 80% black in Mississippi, so who gives a shit, right? Fuck'em if they can't take a joke!

OK, Google gave me nothing on my stated legislature authorizing a calorie limit for prisoners. You're either misremembering or lying.

Also, 80% of prisoners being black isn't shocking in a state where the general population is over 50% black. In fact, that's a lower incarceration rate than blacks in other states, isn't it? Makes me proud of my state.

While the legislature didn't pass a law, wink wink, the investigation revealed the prisoners suffered from malnutrition and were fed such low grade "food" that officials declared it the most deplorable prison food system in the entire country.

Mississippi hasn't particularly butthurt me (white, heterosexual) except for the fact that it's governed and inhabited for the most part by white's who believe the pinnacle of US culture was achieved prior to the Civil War, and at the very least everything that has happened since 1959 has been an unholy abomination.
