Then you need to realize that alcohol is a scam. People dont drink it for the taste and never have. They are having fun because its a social event and because they're losing control of their normal limitations from the alcohol. Anyone who tells you they think for taste is as big of a liar as the dark chocolate and black coffee advocates. They have trained their taste buds to accept it over time, but that doesnt mean its good.

Just because you didn't like alcohol the first time doesn't mean you won't ever like it. I'm assuming you're pretty young, at that age most people are strapped for cash and only interested in getting alcohol into their system as cheaply as possible.

At that age, everyone just drinks watery beer, or cheap liquor mixed with overpowering sweet shit.

The older I got, the more I enjoyed alcohol, especially liquor. Mostly because I have more money, can buy decent stuff, and taught myself how to make some basic drinks.

Sounds like you simply don't like the combination of sweet and alcohol. Can't blame you, I don't either. Sweet drinks taste like shit to me.

I stick to either PBR (it's my go-to beer for the bar or when I want to drink a lot), a nicer local beer for taste, or straight bourbon. I'm from KY, after all.

You can mix vodka with virtually anything. Impossible to completely remove the taste unless it's 1/6th vodka and 5/6ths whatever else+ but it gives you the buzz/drink feeling without chugging beers and easier to take down. OJ is your best bet, or bloody mary mix. Juice in general, no soda.
