I have ketchup that expired 1.5 years age. Is it still safe to use?

check if it has sodium benzoate to retard spoilage.

stop being poor and buy new ketchup

Does it: smell bad/strange/not like ketchup? Have a strange/slimy texture?
Is any discoloration present?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions then your ketchup may indeed be spoiled

I went to visit my dad last week and I took him some Sweet Potato Pie. Got to his house and realized I hadn't brought any whipped cream to top it with, but looking in the fridge I was relieved to see a can on the bottom rack inside the door.

As I grabbed it however, something began to niggle at the back of my mind that something just wasn't quite right. Better check the date on it just to be safe...

something of that vintage should be put back where it was found

For any spoiled food you can do the rectum test. Basically you just take a heaping tablespoon of spoiled whatever and stick it up your ass.

I did. It's still there AFAIK.

OP here.

Tried it and it wasn't that bad, but I ended up emptying the bottle, so I don't have ketchup anymore :(
