/ck/ can I get some recs for meat substitutes? I've seen stuff like vegetarian 'fake meat' lunch meat things.

Do you have any recommendations for ones that don't taste terrible? I need to make something stupid simple for lunch I can take with me to work and I want to try out something like a typical sandwich:

>bread
>spinach
>shredded cheese
>fake lunch meat thing???
>some kind of hummus instead of mayo

The beyond meat stuff is good, but spendy. Same with quorn. Quorn was the best meat substitute I found

Check out the Street Vegan cookbook

The recipes are labor intensive but carnism won't be defeated by wishful thinking

Weirdly, I am eating exactly that right now. Thai Green Curry w/ Quorn. Definitely recommend.

Quorn is excellent for that sort of thing.

Any sort of fake cold meat Quorn stuff is good, like the thin ham, roast beef, chicken, turkey etc.

The Quorn cocktail sausages taste like shite tho.

I was a vegetarian until I was sixteen, and have not eaten meat for over a decade.

I still occasionally get the taste of sirloin in my mouth, as a memory of more barbaric times in my life.

Yeah except for the fact that it is weird fungus shit. Not mushrooms either. They tried to sound more appealing by saying their products are mushroom based but got a lawsuit over it since it's a different kind of fungus. This shit is gross
