What's the deal with Cooking with Jack, /ck/? I don't understand what audience he is appealing too. Why does he market those sauces so much and why does he have his own app and forum for his videos? Is he a meme? His videos got recommended to me cause I watch foodwishes a lot and they are completely unrelated personalities. Anyone want to help me out?

I choose to believe he's a troll and in it for the long haul. Literally the only reasonable answer. No one's giving him products to test, he's buying them. There's no chance in the world a company that wants to advertise their product watches his videos and thinks, "Hey, this guy will really reach our target market!"

Jack is a good instructor for someone who has no idea what they're doing and is likely to fuck it up on their first couple of tries because he leaves a fair amount of his mistakes in and generally doesn't cook anything that requires skill or knowledge.

He shills his stuff because he makes money by selling sauce. He used to beg for audience interaction which is really grating, but came from being a small town radio DJ, he has fallen out of it now though. Fundy white trash who just left the nest is probably his ideal audience.

So I'm a self taught cook learning past 5 years or so buy cooking a new recipe a night from various cookbooks and stuff I see on allrecipes

About a year ago, I somehow stumbled upon Ja/ck/'s "Poor mans filet mignon"

I watched it and was perplexed because it seemed so retarded. I watch other of his videos, and they were all equal or more retarded/asinine.....Yet he had large number of views and good reviews

I genuinely started questioning reality as far as cooking....until I left /pol/ and found /ck/.....and then the threads making fun of him

All of this blog I wrote is to say; people new to cooking may find him and actually think he is good...somehow

He's a good example of people who know so very little about food and cooking they don't even know they massively suck.
He's not helping either.

The Dunning-Kruger effect. Low-skilled people overestimate their skill. He is literally too terrible to know how terrible he is.

100 years from now, people will look back on Ja/ck/ like we now look back on Van Gogh and not be able to comprehend how we dismissed such pure genius and raw talent.
