Amazing.
Easiest and best way to boil water, hands down.

If i undercook my chicken, i'll just give them a minute in my trusty micro

This. I only use my kettle to make soup in now. Throw in the water and veges and meat and stuff and duct tape the button down.

>> No.8054960

Great for defrosting in a hurry. Other than that I pretty much just use it for heating milk

>> No.8054961

Useful. I often cook in batches, so I use to microwave to heat it up afterwards.
I also make my oatmeal in the microwave every morning.

Any other life hacks?
I try to set my microwave to 96 seconds and it keeps doing 1:30 instead.

Reheating left overs.

I never actually have cooked with a microwave since I was 15, 13 years ago.

>> No.8055100

I use it to heat up my cat's food but that's it

>> No.8055103

Mostly useless for anything even halfway decent. But it's good for heating water and milk for baking at least. And reviving honey once it starts to solidify. That's basically all I use it for.

I bought a house and the previous owners left their electric stove and microwave. I'm not a fan of electric stoves with microwaves above them. All I want above my oven is a vent hood. I replaced it with gas and installed a vent hood. These fucking plebs had gas hook-ups, and went with electric. I don't fucking understand people. What are you planning on doing if the electricity goes out?

We don't even have a microwave anymore. I only cook what we can eat, or can be reheated on the stove like chili and gumbo.

Last time I used it was to boil water since I didn't have a water boiler at the time.

If I want to reheat food, I just throw it on the skillet or in the oven, since food tastes like shit microwaved.

Tony Shalhoub likes microwaves.

>> No.8055299

They have their uses, but yeah, they are limited.

Defrosting frozen ingredients, reheating leftovers, or steaming. That's pretty much it.

>> No.8055307

I prefer heating water in my electric heater than in a microwave. It gives off this nice, hot, yet cool and staticky taste. Microwaves just make the water taste like a gross mox of whatever food was last in it.

Just reheat food with it.

>> No.8055326

I miss having one. I'm not exactly rich so there is a lot of reheating going on here which I already know it isn't going to taste as good as it was originally and it sucks because sometimes different parts need different times so no matter what half of my meal is cold and the other half too hot.
If I had a microwave I could just nuke it for a minute and go on with my day

I use it to steam/sterilise my wife's son's bottles
The instructions say to put them in upside down with half a cup of water for 4 minutes

They come out nice and clean

Thank you microwave

They're great for reheating roasted meat. That's all I use mine for.

In my fat days I couldn't live without it, heating up bowl after bowl of pasta.

>> No.8055939

I used to make microwave eggs in them when I was like 7. first thing I cooked on my own.

Lo and behold my current gf actually has a little pot shaped thing made for microwaving eggs in. Reeeee, etc

Well, I'd have to agree with ya there, friendo. The impracticality of a microwave really rears its ugly head when you realize a few things:

1. YOUR FOOD WILL NEVER COOK EVENLY. If by chance it is, and you didn't place the food in different parts on the plate in time intervals between cooking which would probably take just as much time as cooking it like a decent person, then there is problem

2. It taste like it's been infused with death. Mind you, it's just radiation, but this is where I say microwaves do have their use. For example, microwave foods. Food made FOR A MICROWAVE. If you skip the crust, pizza sometimes works, as cold pizza rustles my jimmies, but then there is my Whole Foods-ass rant on

3. The health effect. Of course, just like aaaaaany other unhealthy thing, you're not gonna get the beetus or a hemorrhoid from microwaving your Panda Express every now and again. But there are mothafuckas who do this on a daily basis, and I know you're reading this, I know what site I'm on. You're literally nuking it. Voiding it of any nutritional value, if only some, granted you can also traditionally cook the happiness out of food but between the two first reasons and the fact that it's shit-tier in the long run for you and the food, it's like a gas chamber for your food.

Don't be America, be like Hitler and put your food in the oven
