>Have a 40 oz./1.2 L thermos I use for taking coffee to work.
>Always making 5 "cups" of coffee with my Mr. Coffee® coffee maker to fill it all the way up(1 "cup"=8 fl. oz)
>Always feels kind of empty.
>Fill up thermos and pour it into coffee charafe
>Goes right nearly to the 8 "cup" line
>What?!
>Grab a measuring cup and start pouring it in there one by one
>Goes to the 8 "cup" line after 5
>Turns out a coffee "cup" is only 5 oz.

Coffee 'cups' are Italian meme. My small french presses supposedly make 3 'cups', but barely fill 70% of a standard mug.

People make fun of the stereotype of Brits effeminately drinking tea out of delicate (yet properly sized) cups with our little fingers sticking out, but Italian MINI MEME cups are just as bad if not worse. Gulliver's Travels-tier absurdity.

Yup I had one that did this.
It's a programmed fault to get you to have to keep buying them, I believe.
Run an empty cup before you do your coffee, try using the small cup button instead, or just run it twice in a row. Monitor it in case it spills over if you run the same k cup twice.

Honest to god those things are fucking garbage. Get a $10 pot at the dollar store.

Keurig is shit. I got one as a gift from my mother one Christmas, and while I can appreciate the convenience of making a single "serving" of coffee quickly, it just doesn't make enough. The cups are also fairly expensive, though I guess you can get those little reusable ones to put in your own grind, but at that point you might as well just buy a real coffee maker.

I do keep it around in the off chance that one day I might have a guest that just loves Keurig so they can use it.

They're called demitasse. And they're that size to minimize cooling of an espresso shot.
