This is what we call in America a "deli" sandwich. Could not find any place to make one for in Europe, certainly not in an 'merican size. Let's see your best sandwiches

French baguette if that's all you can do, US subs are more italian bread, a bit of a softer crust with softer inside something carved out for more room inside, but it's just even better with a crusty bread if you don't mind the chewing.
Meat, slice thin, from salami, to pork, to ham
Cheese (I like flavorful)
Salad choice (lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles. Optional bell pepper, cucumbers, pickled peppers
Dressing choice/condiments, oil and red wine vinegar is traditional, plus a heavy hand with salt, pepper, oregano.

It's easy man. Make your own!

Here's one you might try, New Orleans Italian inspired Muffaletta from Central. It's got very commonly found italian meats, and a slurry of italian olive salad that marinates even better the longer you press it and let it sit. Secret is flavorful mortadella and that rich drippy pepper and olive salad with celery in it.

Not really.
Most Italian bread is very, very hard crusted.
While the sandwich in OP is influenced by Italian cuisine, the bread itself is influenced from French. The sub/hoagie rolls used to make them are based on our panino. Panini (plural of panino) are rolls of bread originating in northwest Italy in Piemonte, heavily influenced by French baguettes. It is essentially a mini-baguette.

Sandwiches in Italy and France are great, but you won't find deli/bodega style ones there.

That said, outside of a few cities (NYC, Boston, Providence) you can't get a decent deli sandwich in the US either. NOLA has the PoBoy, but that's different.

Well im croatian and its kind of silly to expect different countries to have the exact same American sandwich From NY lol

Or even better forget the sandwich and buy some pita or cevapi lol

You better go to pekara and buy some nice bread and salami and cheese separately if you want a sandwich so badly. People in croatia don't buy pre made foods like that it is like an unhealthy american thing lol

But you can buy other baked goods like bun with ham and cheese and stuff like great which are so delicious, or even my fav bakery in bosnia sells ready made pizzas for like 1 US dollar lol.

Eastern yurop > Western yurop tbqh

Deli sandwiches like the ones being discussed here are not pre made. They're made to order, and are pretty neutral when it comes to healthy/unhealthy.

Nutella is a spread. Yeh its fucking popular as a snack all over the world. Lol
That doesnt take away from the fact that people don't eat the same things the same way as Americans do.

made to order or premade doesnt matter its unhealthy considering american sizes and dressings are too big and too much.

I liked Croatia, but I was referring to Europe in general not having a decent sandwich or a place to buy food to go. I was recently in Ireland on a road trip, and I was looking for fresh food that could be eaten in the car, like a deli sandwich. They are fresh, by the way, and not prepackaged like in Europe. The sandwich that I bought today was roast pork that the deli had made that morning, sliced in front of me.

Obviously I don't expect Europe to have NY style deli's, although I hear NY style pizza is popular. I just wanted fresh food that can be eaten on the road. As far as I know, I would have to stop at a pub for that.

Since you are from Croatia, I was wondering what the name of that place is I went a few years ago, within a few hours of Dubrovnik, a bay with a place where people can mountain bike and kayak or canoe, with an island with a castle. Incredibly beautiful, need to go again. Thanks

Nobody is saying they do. It is pretty funny that people starting their day with what is basically fucking cake frosting want to call Americans unhealthy though.

>considering american sizes and dressings are too big and too much

In NYC you get either a roll or hero for your sandwich. A roll size is about 400 calories, a hero 600. For a single meal that's fine.

That said, American portion sizes in flyover land, where people eat nothing but chain crap, are pretty insane.

I am in holiday in so california right now.
The portion sizes are still really big. At the 7/11 at The Hat , any "american restaurant " whatever place is not Asian is pretty big

I am terrified of how much food must come in a meal in a flyover state..

The only place that didn't have too much food was H2oPoke?
I don't understand poke either this is deconstructed sushi no?
So cali fags and their hipster ways I dont get it but it was tasty and the portion size was something I would find in Australia.

For subs/hoagies/po'boys, the bread ought to be chewy, not soft. At least in the Northeast-ish, spanning from Washington DC northward along I95 and Louisiana and its surrounding counties in other states.

Sandwich bread, the pre-sliced stuff Americans buy in grocery stores, is soft, yes, but not the same bread as for subs/hoagies/po'boys except for at chain delis because they have to appeal to the tastes of middle America, who overwhelmingly support these chains because not only does middle America have the most fast food chain restaurant locations per capita, but also the most diversity in fast food chain options. If they don't like X, X doesn't happen. And they've decided they want bread that disintegrates on contact with their gums and not bread you have to actually chew. They eat like ducks.
