When something says it's "Red Velvet Cake flavored" does that just mean it's chocolate flavored?

Ghetto red velvet cake is just red colored chocolate.

Real red velvet cake uses chocolate with some buttermilk and vinegar (which brings out red pigments in cocoa) which definitely changes the flavor profile.

Children tend not to like it for the same reason they tend not to like dark chocolate.

I got a red velvet milkshake a few days and was wondering the same thing regarding what it would taste like. Tasted mostly like chocolate, I'm pretty sure it was a chocolate milkshake with a red velvet flavored syrup mixed in.

Red velvet cake is basically just a mildly flavored chocolate with a lot of food coloring and cream cheese icing, so I assume red velvet flavored things should taste like that.
