Hi /ck/ long story short I need some ideas for salmon recipes. I'd prefer to bake it but a stovetop would be fine too. I have almost all day to prepare so time isn't a big issues but it is still there. I'm not a tard either so following directions shouldn't be too hard, it's just I haven't cooked much fish before. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

My favorite way to cook salmon is in a frying pan. Get your fillet, cut some paralell slits in the skin (this is so that it doesn't curl when you cook it). Cook it skin side down until it's mostly done, then flip and finish the 2nd side. You can tell when the fish is done by looking at the color change.

Of course you need some kind of oil or butter in the pan, but the type doesn't really matter.

I know this sounds ridiculous, but I like using duck fat to pan fry salmon. Really complements the salmon flavor.

To get the best crispy skin you should use a fortified butter and start with a cold pan.
