I tip at least 5 bucks wherever I go, because I almost never eat out.

It's the fault of the food industry which wants to underpay workers to put even more cost on the person buying food, but I'm not going to make someone get minimum wage because of the establishment.

If anything, it just proves how absolutely insane going out to eat is, you spend generally 10 dollars+ per plate after taxes & tip no matter where you go unless it's cheap fast food

For a plate of say a chicken sandwich, usually 10 bucks after all said and done at a restaurant, you could have bought pounds upon pounds of meat and vegetables and ate like a king at home

I never understood why tipping norms increase with time. Inflation isn't a good answer since we're talking percentages here. Bills get larger with inflation too. Is it just because we're moving to a more service based economy and more and more entitled people with degrees are joining the workforce. In most states servers in restaurants make between 1 and 3 dollars below their states minimum wage because they are expected to make tips. French here, I've been to america once and to be honest your waiters don't even let you eat in peace.
They were trying so hard to get a tip, they were constantly coming to bug us with some bogus question like "is everything ok?" (they asked us that 4 times in the meal, not counting when they were actually needed for picking up dishes and bringing the bill) and replacing our water broc everytime it was half empty.
You'd think if they are trying to get a tip, they'd try to be pleasant but they were invasive little cunts.

>Hell just switch to counter style and have people come get their food when called

I wish my favorite Middle Eastern place would do this. I don't understand why they don't, I could easily get up and walk 2 feet to the counter to get my food and drink but they insist on having someone bring it to me. I'm pretty sure they aren't just servers and make a proper wage but I would still feel awkward not giving them a tip, it's annoying.

I drove for Jimmy Johns for a summer in the the burbs. Given the small size of the standard order, I thought I got tipped pretty decently. My policy has always been at least 2 bucks for a delivery driver, then 10-15% above as I know first hand that larger deliveries aren't really that much more of a hassle than smaller ones. Of course, if it's a catering order that's different and you should tip the fuck out of them.

You're right though. Blacks are bad tippers.

Tipping in general doesn't bother me. What bothers me is when I don't do it and whoever is with me thinks I committed some atrocity like stomping a kitten to death. But they couldn't give two fucks if the employee gets their whole pay.

>Black women never tip.

Both of these things are true, especially the negress part. It's like they don't know how to fucking tip, I don't understand.

But here's my issue. I'm really fucking sick of my drivers bitching about tips. They do it all the goddamn time, and it makes no sense. They take a like an $860 order, of a shitton of Party Poopers or Mini Jimmies or whatever that they didn't even lift a SINGLE FINGER to make, and get tipped like $80 for the three minute job of bussing someone else's hard work to a local business or whatever, and their first words back are "MOTHERFUCKERS DIDN'T EVEN PAY ME 10%, ASSHOLES". They then proceed to pocket all of the money themselves and give none to the other employess.

WHY.
Why the fuck should delivery be based on a percentage of the price of the order? Fuck, I'm making money off that same bullshit and I don't understand it.

Demand curve economics - That's because the minimum wage is too high by definition. The equilibrium point is below minimum wage.
