So /ck...

When you're cooking at home, do you mind if someone helps cook the meal or are you such a control freak that you turn it down?

I'll let someone peel potatoes or something simple, usually just ask for them to clean the dishes though.

I'm a clean freak, but I trust other clean freaks.
If it's my friends with dogs who never wash, i'll make them wash their hands and only let them handle food before it's rinsed, like vegetables.

I'm a control freak about the actual cooking. As far as prep, if the person involved has proven they're not incompetent I let them help. I've got a couple friends who are trained chefs and I let them do whatever the fuck they won't, it'll be better than whatever I had in mind anyway.

I'm glad I'm not alone.

NO PLEBS IN MY KITCHEN.

(jk, but seriously, I don't like people fussing around me while I cook. I used to be a professional, so I run my home kitchen like a pro kitchen, so it's best for most people to stay out.)

yeah this. I let people do the dirty work, but I generally don't even let them cut anything because depending on what I'm cooking I want it a certain way obviously.

I normally prepare the food, seasoning wise, and handle what we're actually eating (when I'm eating with a lot of people), and let the people that want to help do the legwork. I.E chopping, cooking, and handling side dishes they want. I kinda overwatch it, and just decide what we do, in all honesty.

I love cooking with my SO, it's a lot more fun than cooking alone.

See I have a lot of fun just cranking music and cooking on my own, but I have somewhat of a loner personality

Only if 'help' doesn't mean 'standing behind me fiddling with things noisily while I'm tending a frying pan'.

I used to like cooking with my siblings because it can be fun, but they always end up cutting or burning themselves

An assistant that does everything you ask is helpful and fun, especially if they ask you how you want it done. This is how my mother taught me how to cook, this is how I am teaching my gf to cook. She is doing great. I don't mind being the bitch in the kitchen either, it is social

But when you get my aunt in the kitchen watch the fuck out because she will criticize everything you do if you are helping. I don't even offer any more, I just got to the basement and watch sportball until she calls us to dinner

I love extra help. Generally we'll split it up according to dishes (one person handles the main protein, another person makes veggies, etc etc)

It's nice visiting my parents when the rest of the family is in because then there's about six of us in my mom's fancy as fuck renovated kitchen all cooking shit.

I'll occasionally ask for help doing something simple, but I'm quick to chase away unwanted assistance.

If I'm cooking from a recipe, I need to be able to keep track of what's done and where to go next and the easiest way is to do it all myself. Otherwise, I'm improvising and other people can't just jump in on it.

I feel kinda bad about how snappy I get when cooking, but I haven't been doing it long and still get stressed by it.
