This is why we eat meat, so we don't end up stupid enough to clime a mountain and die on it.

i honestly don't give a shit about hiking up mount everest and personally i think it's stupid but holy shit that is an ignorant statement. considering the air is incredibly thin, you only get a certain amount of time to do the hike, limiting the amount of breaks you get which makes it incredibly physically taxing. i don't care how much money you have, you have to be in good fucking shape to climb everest and it's definitely something of merit

>considering the air is incredibly thin
They breathe pure oxygen

> you only get a certain amount of time to do the hike
Part of why it sucks and isn't worth the money.

You have to be in decent shape and be fairly wealthy. That's it. It's not a huge deal. The death stats are there because of the amount of people going there.

If you remove the issue of hypoxia, everest isn't significantly different in difficulty compared to other summits.

>> No.7703841

Vegans! You can do anything.

>You can't do anything.

>> No.7703845

>Weeks before her death Dr Strydom told how she and her husband wanted to dispel the belief that vegans were 'weak' or 'malnourished' by taking on the climb.

Well that's settled then. Veganism is a poor diet that produces dangerously weak individuals and should be treated as we would any other eating disorder that affects your health.

>You have to be in decent shape and be fairly wealthy. That's it

Not really. The is a pretty large percentage of the population who simply can't handle the altitude. Bottled oxygen helps of course, but doesn't change the fact that the weather is extreme and the atmospheric pressure is so low. The low pressure alone can kill.

Ok so this entire thread is awful, this poor woman was trying to prove that vegans can do anything ans everything filthy carnists can do. She was an influence to vegans everywhere and if she would have made it to the top it would be a huge step forward in a progressive respect for those who choose a better lifestyle than us.

However she died and couldnt do it so it was actually a massive fumble backwards, proving how vain and arrogant progressive vegans are while also giving her an icy place in the ground due to malnutrition. I was grinning like a boob reading through that entire article.

Those animals wouldn't exist if we weren't growing them. They're specifically bred to be eaten. We're killing things that wouldn't e it's otherwise, and from an ecological standpoint, shouldn't exist.

It's not like we're going out into the Savannah and bashing wild cows and chickens in the head with rocks. We're growing and cultivating organisms to be harvested for consumption. It's not different than growing plants.

Yes, but tons of meat eaters have successfully slimmed Everest. That some of the, died is irrelevant.

The point is that no vegan has successfully done so and this one who tried, specifically to prove the point that a vegan could do it, could not.

Very flimsy argument, even ignoring the fallacious attempt to equate animals with plants. Your justification doesn't stand up to even the tiniest bit of scrutiny. Take it to its logical conclusion and it can be used in defence of all sorts of abhorrent behaviour.

Not really, no. Speaking of fallacies, nice strawman, by the way.

Why can we not equate livestock specifically bred for consumption with plants? The animals we grow don't even exist in nature. They've been bred and genetically engineered for centuries and barely resemble the original animals they came from. These are mutant species that serve no purpose in nature that we have created for a purpose, and they are serving that purpose. They are no different from plants.

The vegan who did climb Everest

Two days before Maria Strydom and her husband attempted their ascent of Everest, another vegan climber made it.

Kuntal Joisher, a Mumbai-born computer programmer, climber and adventure photographer now living in Los Angeles, wrote on his Instagram account that he had reached the summit.
