I did the same thing and I had the same experience. It also did burn in my stomach, but I countered it by drinking water, thus diluting it. They say raw garlic is even healthier than cooked. The cooking makes it palatable by destroying some of the enzymes that convert shit

Yeah the only problem I had was the intense tongue burning which I took a couple sips of water to alleviate. Flavor didn't bother me, and it didn't bother my stomach either.

If you want the flavor of raw garlic without the intense burning, make garlic sauce. It's basically a lot of garlic cloves emulsified with oil and a little lemon juice + salt.
