Before Timbits were invented (or Dunkin Munchkins) what did they do with the doughnut holes?

Jut throw them in the dumpster?

I'll bet you dollars to doughnuts (ha!), whoever did invent them got a big raise.

Jesus this thread is shit.

The vast majority of donuts are shot into the fryer with a donut gun that puts the batter out in a circle.

There are no "donut holes"

It's a marketing gimmick to sell to children, like chicken "nuggets"

My Father used to get them for free when he'd go to the bakery, they had no use for them and would just toss them the majority of the time.

There weren't any donut holes. The machine which forms the donuts creates them in a toroidal shape without having to punch out the center.

As a kid I was perplexed at what the hell a donut hole what was when they were selling them.

Those are the batter-type of donuts, like mini donuts at a fair. Real donuts need to proof for a while so the yeast gets a chance to expand.

They're all terrible. Timmy Ho's doesn't fry their donuts on site, they do it in some dingy factory and distribute it around the region. It's why they're all stale and have a gross texture.

I'd say the sour cream ones are the best but I haven't had them in years.

If you mean made from dough, then they're rolled into a tube and then connected at the ends.

Yes there are those kinds but most actual dough-nuts are cut with donut rollers.
