So tell me /ck/, what is THE best meal/food you've ever had in your entire life? Feel free to throw in how expensive it was if at a nicee restaurant as well.

Autists who are going to say "a steak I made myself" need not apply

Personally, I'd have to say La BBQ when I was in Austin was the best, though I didn't get the chance to try Franklin for comparison

When I lived in Bangkok there was a small Isan BBQ place near my friends apartment. They sold Fucking phenomenal BBQ pork/chicken and sticky rice.

Thailand really is punching above its weight when it comes to food.

I've had a lot of great meals, but the one I wish I could relive was an Indian meal I had at a high class underground Indian joint in Dubai during the bubble years. Every dish was ludicrously detail oriented, exquisitely high quality ingredients, obsequious service but never quite went over the line to servility. I have no idea what any of it was, but nothing I've had at any of the michelin-starred Indian restaurants I've been to has come close.

I have no idea what the restaurant was either, I should have paid attention but it was my first night there and I figured that was just normal Dubai (it wasn't)

I had a rich family friend take us all out to Nobu japanese in NYC, it was the best japanese food and some of the best overall food I've ever had. He ordered a ton of courses for the whole group. I bought a house glass of wine while waiting and that was $14, I don't want to know how much the entire meal cost

i paid for my buddy cause hes a poor frat boy who spends all his money on booze, was $230ish before tip

A friend of mine smoked a prime rib a few years ago for Christmas. It was fucking delicious, picked up a nice hickory flavor from the smoke and was perfectly rare. Definitely some of the best prime rib I've had.

I also made some lamb for Easter this year that came out fucking amazingly well. Had the butcher de-bone and butterfly a leg for me, then rubbed all over the inside with sauteed minced shallots and garlic with a some finely chopped rosemary, parsley, oregano and mint, some red pepper flakes, salt, pepper, lemon zest, lemon juice and olive oil. Rolled it up and trussed it and put some more of the rub on the outside and then slow roasted it for a few hours. It was excellent, I'll definitely do something similar the next time I make lamb. It was the first time I've done the butterfly thing, I normally just get a whole leg, poke some holes in it and stick some garlic and rosemary in there.

Gunshow in Atlanta. Its "American Style Dim-Sum" so each plate varied on price but it was 8-15 bucks a plate and they had enough for two people to split. The menu rotated almost nightly and each dish was created by one chef and entirely his/her creation made from beginning to end. I had braised pork belly bao, thai spare ribs with green papaya salad and a foie gras + granola + sweetened yogurt + blueberry thing that was out of this world good. Hard to get a reservation there but it was fantastic

What a meal. Roasted squab, an interesting radish + pepper salad, passion fruit sorbet, amazing. Wine pairings were fantastic as well. I paid around $500 for two (meal, wine, tip), was definitely not worth that much but was still the best meal of my ilfe

Barbecue on the Greek island Patmos.
Imagine a gigantic fire on the beach, the catch of the day in copious amounts grilling at said fire.
any mediterranian fish you could think of, clams, octopus, shrimp, crab, anything

all accompanied by greek salad and flatbread.

It was absolutely stunning. anything was spiced with a bit of sea salt, lemon, parsley and garlic.

When I was 12 I took a cruise through the Bahamas, and for a day we stopped at St. Martin. Along the north docks was a restaurant that sold fresh caught fish and fruit.

I had a large platter with a whole fried grouper, grilled flounder, blackened chicken (dark meat), spiced black beans and rice, fried plantain in molasses, and fresh chopped pineapple.

It all was incredible, but the plantains and the grouper truly were out of this world.

This joint in Burgundy country. Always wanted to do a 3 star Michelin joint and this place didnt disappoint. My favorite meal ever, 13 courses or some shit over 3 and a half hours. Some where just a bite but all were amazing, not one dud. Best fish dish I ever had. So much attention to detail I cant even begin. It was like $900 for my wife and I, totally worth the spurge. I still have the menu as a souvinir somewhere.

I know this is going to make me sound poor since they were both cheap (I do OK) but it is a toss up.

The ribs at the Slick Pig in Murfreesboro, TN are definitely the best I have ever eaten, and I eat a lot of ribs. pic related

The other was a place I stumbled on years ago when I was traveling along the Florida panhandle. I don't even remember the name of the place but it was a shack at the base of a pier on the coast. The owner fished for shrimp in the morning and would cook and serve it until he ran out that day. The only menu items were shrimp cooked in butter with or without garlic and lemon, coca cola, and regular Coors. It was easily the best shrimp I had ever tasted and was a partial factor in me eventually settling near a coast

Similarly, some of the best food i've ever had was at a cruise port. Ours stopped in Cozumel Mexico, but we paid extra to drive for a ways to this private beach resort, they only allow a certain number of people there a day to keep the beach empty. Anyway, we got one of those private canopies with our own little mexican waiter who would literally run across the beach after taking out order to get food/drinks. It was the best authentic mexican food I've ever had. Food and drinks were all inclusive with the price so I ate tacos, nachos, and fish all day, got drunk as fuck on tequila, and then left my good waiter buddy Pedro a hefty tip for being awesome
