What's the deal with that spicy mustard they have at Chinese restaurants?

Is it a real thing or is it a joke they play on the white devils?

If I went looking for some at an Asian market what should I get?

The real question is, what is it supposed to go with? Nothing on the chinese menu really works with that shit.

That's because you're used to American 'mustard'

yeah but this shit is almost wasabi-tier

pungent is a more fitting term than spicy for mustard, tho

the fact that it seems so strong.

Most "American Mustard" contains relatively little actual mustard seed in it. Try something like >>7538550. That's 100% mustard seed ground up. No additives or colors or anything else.

I've always wondered this too. Its always included and I've never found a use for it.

That fake soy sauce they include is great on American chinese food, but terrible in literally everything else. Real soy sauce makes the food too salty

Egg rolls, pepper steak, and fried rice are all great things to put it on.

The packet mustard fucking sucks. AFAIK Chinese restaurants just get huge bags of mustard powder and add water to it. Haven't tried round eye mustard powder but I bet it works.

Best on egg rolls with rice wraps.

Everyone saying egg rolls is lying. Sweet n sour sauce is best condiment for egg roll.
